Choosing The Best Fertility Clinic UK FAQ's
Choosing a fertility clinic can be quite a daunting task. There are so many questions to be asked, so many things to consider that it can be difficult to know where to start. Please see below FAQ’s which we hope will assist you in making your decision on a clinic.
- How much will it cost?
There is no standard fee for fertility treatment as there are a number of complex factors that will vary for everyone. However, as a guideline the minimum cost of one cycle of IVF starts at just over £3000. For a more detailed breakdown of the pricing structure for the different stages of the process and the auxiliary services available, please visit the pricing [link] page on our website.
- What treatments do you offer?
We offer you a comprehensive range of services and treatments. These range from treatment designed to help you overcome any fertility problems through to a full IVF programme that starts with a sperm test prior to the initial consultation and goes through to a pregnancy scan once the IVF cycle has been found to be successful.
We also offer support, advice and treatments specifically designed to help women cope with the varied and sometimes unpleasant symptoms of the menopause.
- How long will treatment take?
We understand that most patients having decided on the IVF route are keen to start the process as soon as possible. We aim to have an introductory appointment with you within 4 weeks of you contacting the clinic. Once we have carried out our initial assessment and you have undergone the preliminary but necessary tests, we will be in a better position to advise you on time scales. If there are no complications, we aim to have completed your first full cycle of IVF within 3 months of that first appointment. If you need longer to make decisions and choices we are happy to proceed with the process at a pace that suits you.
- Why should I choose your clinic?
The key to choosing the right clinic is to choose the one that feels right for you. We understand that undergoing fertility treatment is a highly stressful and emotional time and we therefore put your physical and emotional well being above all other considerations. The clinic is staffed by a committed and understanding team of medical and nursing professionals who have the experience, knowledge and desire to provide you with the best chance of a successful outcome at the end of your treatment.
- Do you have female doctors?
Our all female consultant and nursing team is an unusual feature of the Clinic and one that we believe fosters a very special environment for our patients and their partners.
- What are your success rates?
The clinic’s success rate has continued to improve over recent years and is now recognised as being excellent. This success reflects the experience and quality of the Embryology Team and the dedication and skills of the doctors, nurses, administration and support staff. For the frozen cycle we have nearly double the national success rate at 32% and for both IVF and ICSI we exceed or match the national average in each of the age groups up to women of 41 years age.
- Will I be accepted?
Apart from adhering to HFEA guidelines the clinic has few restrictions on who it will accept, the main one being an upper age limit of 45. If after the initial consultation we do not feel that it would be in the best interests of your own health to proceed with IVF we will talk this through and provide full counseling and support to help you decide on the next step.
- Do you accept single women?
If you are in good general health and there are no other obvious reasons why you should not undergo IVF treatment then we will be happy to accept you as a patient.
- Do you accept same-sex couples?
As with single women, provided you are able to meet the necessary criteria in terms of general health and well being we are happy to accept women in same-sex relationships.
- Do you have an egg/embryo donation programme?
Yes, we operate three different elements within our egg donation programme. Patients already undergoing treatment may be able to donate eggs to other patients (egg sharing). Alternatively we do receive donations from women who are prepared to do ‘something amazing’ by donating one of their own eggs for use in our fertility programme (altruistic egg donors). In addition, we have a very successful egg donation programme with the Instituto Bernabeu in Alicante. Finally there is the option for embryo donation by patients who have successfully completed a course of IVF but who still have viable embryos available.
