When faced with fertility issues you will without doubt have many questions. We feel it is important for you to know as much about us as possible, to help you make the right decision. We would like you to feel comfortable with our team and with the treatment we can offer.
We all have many years experience in this specialist field of work, our scope has widened over the years and the team has significantly grown and developed.
Consultation and treatment is all provided in our bright new purpose built premises which has a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.
We recognise the importance of giving patients the care and support they need on an individual basis.
Specialist doctors are always on call 24 hours every day throughout the year.
Patients attend Wessex Fertility on an out-patient basis with access to nursing and counselling support throughout.
We try our very best to keep patient costs as low as possible without compromising care.
We provide a full range of investigations and treatments for couples who wish to have a baby: Including primary investigations of infertility, recurrent miscarriages, detailed sperm analysis, pelvic scanning and Hysterosalpingo-contrast-sonography (Hycosy). This is a technique of assessing the fallopian tubes for blockage. It involves having a detailed internal ultrasound scan to assess the uterus, ovaries and pelvis. A fine tube is then placed in the cervix and some contrast dye is passed in to the uterus. The ultrasound is then used to look for the flow of the dye into the fallopian tubes and around the ovaries. It is a simple procedure that has the advantage of checking the fallopian tubes are open without using X-rays or requiring a general anaesthetic.
We offer a wide range of treatments and keep up to date with all new developments, incorporating them in to a couples' treatment if we feel they would be of benefit.
We provide treatment whether self-funded or contracted by NHS.
Wessex Fertility is easily accessible from anywhere in southern England.
Injections are given with a 'pen' kit, or very fine insulin type syringes and needles so that deep injections are not necessary. With this method we find that after full instruction from our nurses, most women (often with the help of their partner) feel confident about giving their own injections and are often surprised at how easy it becomes.
In some cases, Wessex accepts couples for treatment who have a lower chance of success. As long as the safety of the patient and the welfare of any unborn child is not at risk, protocol is followed and our guidance has been given and understood the couple can make their own decision to go ahead.
